In recent years, natural stone has managed to carve out an important place in our interiors. Often synonymous with elegance, it comes in all colors and with various patterns. And this year marks the emergence of Calacatta, a variety of marble with sumptuous veining.
Discover our ideas for incorporating it into your decor.
Calacatta: a unique and prestigious marble
If there is one material that perfectly embodies elegance and refinement, it is Calacatta. Used for centuries in architecture and sculpture, Calacatta marble now finds its place in furniture with decidedly contemporary lines.
Calacatta is an Italian marble known for its beauty and distinctive character. Indeed, it is characterized by a white or slightly gray background, and by veining that can range from purple to gold, giving it an appearance worthy of a work of art. Each piece of Calacatta is unique, making it a preferred choice for those seeking exceptional and inimitable furniture pieces.
The timeless elegance of Calacatta furniture
Calacatta furniture will bring a touch of timeless elegance to every room in the house. Whether on a dining table, a console, a Calacatta marble coffee table, or even a countertop in the kitchen, Calacatta will provide a sense of sophistication and luxury. With its luminous and shiny appearance that reflects light, it also adds texture and strength to the room.
What materials to pair it with?
This variety of marble being very graphic, I recommend pairing it with more neutral materials for a classic and timeless look. For example, light Oak or Walnut for wood, velvet or bouclette fabric for textiles.
To enhance the intensity of the veining, you can also add touches of gold brass or stainless steel.
Where to find a Calacatta coffee table?
After the great trend of travertine, the French brand Talka has just launched a new collection of Calacatta marble furniture. Coffee tables, consoles, columns, and even bathroom sinks now complete their catalog of natural stone furniture.
Personally, I am fond of all the pieces, but I have a particular crush on the Théna coffee table and the tall columns, which are perfect for showcasing a beautiful decorative object.
My decor tips
- For a room like the living room, use the Calacatta coffee table as a focal point to draw all eyes. It can be beautifully complemented with a nice rug and lovely styling.
- Don’t hesitate to play with soft and warm materials to counter the cold aspect of natural stone.
- You can also use Calacatta marble in a more subtle way, particularly with decorative elements such as trays, vases, or candle holders. Even if they are small, the character of the stone will make all the difference in your decor.
